Dear Mette,
my name is Eugenia
Mansutti and I work for the Covenant of Mayors Office in Brussels. I received your contact from Arianna Americo, who had the chance to work with you in a IURC event last year. I am writing to propose you an opportunity to take part in a Covenant of Mayors event. We are organising a session  together with DG CLIMA as part of our work in the Covenant of Mayors Office, in the World Urban Forum that will take place in Katowice, Poland, on 27-30 June this year. More information are available at the following link: https://wuf.unhabitat.org/. The event is organised by the United Nations UN Habitat, and the Covenant of Mayors is going to submit an application to host a 90 minutes session in the framework of the event. The topic of the event will be the cooperation between local leaders and youth for the climate and energy transition.

We are aiming at a networking session where participants (cities but also other stakeholders) will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss common challenges. Before a more interactive part with roundtables, we would like to have three short presentations of inspiring examples, followed by a panel discussion moderated by DG CLIMA. Breakout discussions in roundtables will represent the biggest share of the meeting. Participants in the room will be gathering around thematic tables, listen to a short pitch of a joint Climate Pact pledge with cities and youth, and have the opportunity to ask questions and reflect upon whether the example can be replicated in their contexts. We will use printed handouts to guide the participants reflections around 4 criteria to assess the replicability of the example in their cities/territories: possible challenges, possible solutions, stakeholders to be involved, and what would the first steps be.

Arianna shared more information about the work you've done with the Youth Council in Turku, and your social media campaign on 1.5 degree lifestyle. Moreover, we've read on your website that the Council makes annual decision about granting funds to project that are designed and implemented by youth. This would be an extremely valuable experience to share in our session, and will revolve around how cities are cooperating with youth groups already, and how to improve cooperation, being inspired by successful examples.

We'd be happy to invite you or another member of the youth council involved in these activities to be the 'host' of one of the roundtables in second part of the event, in Katowice. You will find below a draft agenda. We'll go ahead with the submission today, and will only know the results in about one month. If this proposal meets your interest, please do let me know and I'll keep you posted as soon as the session is accepted, and we have a date and time!

I remain available for any questions you may have, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Best regards,
Eugenia
